Home energy event

At the weekend I joined my colleagues Patrick Costello TD and Ray Cunningham, local area rep for Ballyfermot-Drimnagh, to host a home energy information event for the Crumlin and Walkinstown areas. Bringing together a range of suppliers and experts on home energy upgrades, we hopefully answered a lot of questions for local people interested in investing now in the long term energy efficiency of their homes.

The SEAI were on hand to advise on the grants and supports available to homeowners, and we also had representatives of St Agnes Credit Union on hand to talk low-interest Green loans, ahead of the launch of a government scheme later this year.

From full deep retrofits to solar installations and infrared heating, the suppliers on hand gave one-to-one advice in addition to detailed presentations on what’s involved, and all in attendance said they found it a worthwhile stop on their journey to a warmer home and big energy savings.
